NARI is currently working on a project called the ‘On-station evaluation and selection of suitable 64 rice varieties in PNG’.
The project aims to observe and collect important agronomical data like the tillering (flowering) ability of each rice variety in each block.
The collected data will quantify which varieties have high number of tillers. The higher the number of tillers, the higher the grain yield.
