Monica Jack, the head cook at the Western Pacific Guest House at NARI’s Momase Regional Centre was all smiles when she was handed her newly purchased staff uniform by Ms Jill Kavi, the Guest House Manager.
Monica joined the Guest House in 2010 after it was officially opened.
As the longest serving staff, she acknowledged the NARI Management for “finally” giving them a sense of pride in their work.
The uniforms included a corporate wear, kitchen wear and safety wear including footwear.
The Western Pacific Guest House is a revenue arm of the National Agricultural Research Institute. It includes the catering services, a coffee shop and a canteen.
A total of 13 staff are part of the revenue team. Another three staff are at the Gadi Ling Guest House at NARI’s Islands Regional Centre in Kerevat, East New Britain Province and one staff at the Hill Top Guest House in the Highlands Regional Centre – Aiyura, Eastern Highlands Province.
NARI’s Director Institutional Services and Systems, Mr Anthony Woyengu in handing over the uniforms, hopes it gives the staff a renewed sense of pride, motivation, and identity.
He encouraged them to take care of the uniforms and present themselves professionally when interacting with NARI guests.
Human Resource Manager Ms Lina Asiri further assured the staff that they will undergo customer service and hospitality training to complement the new uniforms.
Apart from the Guest Houses and Food outlets, Ms Jill Kavi also manages the Allan Quartermain Conference Facility at the Momase Regional Centre.
Ms Kavi has been one of the driving forces behind the revenue arm and was overjoyed handing her staff the new uniforms.
“We were often mistaken for SME groups when engaged in catering so this will make us stand out as a professional team.
“I am proud of my team and grateful for the management for their support,” Kavi delightfully expressed.
