NARI takes out top award at Morobe Agricultural Show

The National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) was awarded the First Prize in the Government and Semi-Government Sector at the 61st Morobe Agricultural Show last weekend.

NARI exhibited food crops (taro, rice, sweetpotato) and livestock (village chickens, goat, sheep, ducks, fish) with technical personnel on hand to provide information to people who visited the stall.

The main crowd drawing features were the Climate Smart Sustainable Farming Model, Black Soldier Fly Larvae process and the Rice Harvester and Thrasher.

NARI Partners like the Taiwan Technical Rice Project and Wantok Produce, exporter of NARI taro were also there to display their products.

The exhibition indicated NARI’s commitment to making agriculture sustainable through research, up scaling technologies and information dissemination to the farming community in Papua New Guinea.
