Assessment and evaluation undertaken in the islands region

The final assessment and evaluation of the Pobuma and Bali Vitu project sites of EUCCR project was undertaken in over two week in June (1-15 June). The team led by M&E Officer, Rose Sabub, undertook the survey across the two sites as part of the overall project M&E exercise.

The survey was aimed at capturing any changes experienced (or not) by model farmers as a result of the interventions introduced to them. It was also aimed establishing whether model farmers have adapted the interventions and whether or not shared their skills and information (planting materials/livestock) with others in their respective communities. The assessment was also aimed at obtaining responses to assess whether interventions are addressing farmer needs and whether or not the project is taking appropriate approaches in its interventions to achieve intended results.

The study used three methodologies: Individual interviews with model farmers; Focus Group Discussion with secondary recipients; and Key Informant Interview with key stakeholders of the project, especially RDOs, DAL Office, Local Institutions/groups to assess partnership and sustainability after project end. Four key informant interviews were conducted during this visit. A minimum sample size of 30 participants each was the target for both sites. A total of 55 individual interviews were conducted during this visit.

Similar surveys would be conducted at all site, starting with Misima and Rigo in July.
